Butt Fusion Welding
HUPU Engineering offers butt fusion welding of thermoplastic material pipes and fittings. The welding is done with the use of hot plates and hydraulic jacks and aligners for larger diameter pipes. We do turnkey job work for on-site butt welding through a very specialised and skilled engineers. We provide customised solutions to our clients in their specific requirements.

Electro Fusion welding
Our electro fusion welding services are mainly used for welding pipes made from PE for the water and gas utilities. This technique offers a number of practical advantages to the installer. Easy to use for repairs and where the available space and pipe movement is limited. This is an excellent welding process for multi-channel manifolds made from thermoplastics such as Polyethylene, PVC, PVDF, Acrylic, Polycarbonate and other weld-able materials.
Quality of electro-fusion welding depends on
- The heating coils need to be as close to the pipe/fitting interface as possible.
- The heat distribution is uniform over the length of the “hot zone”.
- Melt pressure and temperature are accurately controlled.
- The heating coils are protected from damage prior to and during the welding.
Extrusion welding of HDPE is a typical welding procedure. Extrusion welding is a finishing technique where a bead of molten plastic is used to weld thermoplastic geomembrane materials. HUPU Engineering’s skilled staff gather requirements and provide detailed attention to every customer’s need.
Extrusion welding is most commonly performed on HDPE sheet materials. Extrusion welding is also commonly used on Enviro Liner and Polypropylene. Extrusion welding of other thermoplastic materials is not common.
Hot Air (Gas) welding
HUPU Engineering provides excellent Hot Gas Welding Services. This welding will work on most thermoplastics by joining components together, where adhesives or mechanical fasteners would be impractical, impossible or even prohibited. Common materials welded are HDPE, PP, PVDF and PVC. This welding process opens up new possibilities for your product development and provides various possibilities for joining same material components into permanent structures.
To ensure welding takes place, adequate temperature and pressure must be applied to the rod, along with the use of the correct welding speed and gun position. The weld quality is dependent on the skill of the welder as it is manual techniques.
Socket Fusion welding
HUPU Engineering provides excellent Socket Fusion Services. The socket fusion technique is also used mainly for PE, PP and PVDF for fabricating process and piping systems. The method involves the use of a socket type fitting and the operation process is generally manual. The welding cycle consists of a heating phase and a cooling phase.
In socket fusion welding, a socket mounted on a hot plate is used to heat the outside surface of the pipe being welded. On the opposite side of the hot plate, a spigot is used to heat the inside surface of the injection moulded fitting. Both the fitting and pipe are heated for specified heating time. When the heating time is complete, the heated pipe and fitting are removed from the socket and spigot, and the pipe is pushed inside the fitting, producing the weld.
